As they do every year just after Thanksgiving, weight watcher is adjusting the plan. I always find it exciting. I know... I'm weird. But I like getting a new 3-month journal. It looks a bit different, and that seems to help me fight the boredom, at least for a little while.
I got the new journal on Monday and also decided to adjust my *starting day* of my week journaling to Monday. I will admit I have been going overboard on Thursday nights after weighing in on Thursday afternoon. This way I have to be accountable since the next day is not just starting a new week.
I also decided to change how I think about things. I decided I'm only going to use my activity points as *bonus* points. I don't plan to use the weekly points plus allowance for those.
The one big change to the program and how it affects me, though, is that they lowered my daily point target to 26 (from 29). I think this is going to help me too.
This was a good week, a loss of 1.8 pounds. I also got in a good amount of activity, good days running and good days with weights.
I have been thinking about some stuff related to this lately too. No matter how I treat my body, time is going to pass by. So, why not now? Instead of looking at all the time I've lost, I want to focus on all the time I don't want to lose in the future. I don't want to waste another summer by being too large to feel good in a bathing suit. I don't want to spend another summer trying not to wear shorts because they make me self-concious.
I have a break from school coming up. I want to make it count. I want to use this like my *biggest-loser* chance. An opportunity to really zone in on activity and healthful eating. I do have some tricky things to encouter coming up over the next month too, but I'm ready! BRING IT ON!!!!

So Long and So Much!
It's been far too long since I posted and things have really been going well! On Nov 12th I ran a 12K with my friend Jordan. I finished in 83 minutes fighting CRAZY wind for the last 3.5K. I was kind of dissapointed in my time actually because my time was going SOOO WELL until that last 3.5K. But alas I did finish!
So what's next you ask? Well in January I will start training to do a half-marathon with Jordan. It's on April 29th! Yep, so, my 12K was about 7.4 miles and a half-marathon is 13.1 miles.
It's really interesting, running that is. I never thought I'd like it. In fact I was absolutely sure I hated it. Now I go running 3 times a week. Twice a week it's a *short run* of 3 miles. Even more crazy is to think my definition of a short run is 3 miles. Then I typically do a long run (long for me anyway) of 5 miles on Saturdays. I feel so good when I'm done, and I don't hate it. I'm not sure I'd say I *love* running, but I enjoy it.
So as far as weight, it's still been going down. Certainly I wish it'd go down faster. We are approaching Christmas & Winter break (of 5 weeks) at my school. I've been thinking today that I need to really use that time well to bust some but (pardon the language) and make a dent in this process (like Biggest Loser style). If I could get a significant loss during that time that'd be AWESOME!

Going Well!
Things have been going pretty well lately. I ran a 5K in 32:05 a bit over 2 weeks ago. And I have committed to running a 12K in a little less than 2 weeks from now! I know I can't believe it either. Me? Running? You have GOT to be KIDDING!
And yet I'm not kidding at all :) In fact yesterday I ran 9K. I'm not running as fast as I was, but that's ok. The goal is to finish afterall. So my time yesterday was 69 minutes for my 9K, about 7:40ish minutes per KM.
I have also been doing well with the weight loss. I am under 170. Yea! Just gotta keep going...

At it again :)
Yes, I am at it again. After a bit of a setback, I have now been successfully back on track for 4 weeks. I have been diligent over those 4 weeks and have lost 6 pounds in the last 4 weeks.
I am also training for my first official 5K. Yes I know I told you about a 5K I did back in May, but that was unofficial, in my neighborhood. This one is official. Like a "race" and there will be other runners there, including my friend Jordan - who is a real runner. I told her I'm slow, but I don't think she really believes me. She shall soon see! The race is this upcoming Saturday. So far I am up to running 26 min and 10 minutes separated by 2 min of walking. I am estimating it will take me about 36 min to run the 5K. So, I'm training toward that end. If I could do it in about 35-36 min on *game day* I will be pleased.
So, here's hoping for another good week this week. Just gotta keep being faithful.
I know there are 3 things I don't want...
1) another family picture of me not looking the way I want to
2) a spring break ski trip where I am not fit for the activity
3) a summer season of being embarrassed to be in a bathing suit
#1 will occur in Feb, #2 in Mar, and #3 by May... still got a lot of work to do!
But 6 pounds down! 44 more to go!

A New Day
Okay, so in spite of all my good intentions, things have obviously not gone well.
However, one thing did go well. I ran my first every 5K on May 16, right before I left for Ethiopia on May 20. Yea, then I didn't run again until tonight. But I did run for 20 minutes (two sets of 10 minutes set apart by 5 minutes of a fast walking pace).
Another plus is that I started my summer P90X. I tried to do this last summer, but with moving and living with my in-laws and starting a new job... yea, so I didn't finish. I am 9 days down, meaning I have 81 days to go I guess :)
I also started back to weight watchers for real last Monday (same day I started P90X). I weighed in today, and disappointingly gained 0.6 pounds. I thought I had done well too. A complete bummer. So I am going to try harder this week, hence my 20 minute run tonight in addition to the P90X - Core I did this morning.
We are set to go to Sea World in a bit over 4 weeks. I'd really like to lose about 10 pounds before then. My shorts and capris will fit so much better, and I don't want to wear jeans in the heat of San Antonio!
So, here's to a new day! Please let me be more focused and consistent!

A New Week
So, in spite of my lack of consistency in both my exercise and eating habit, I lost 1.6 pounds this week. This brings my total down to below the last time I posted a weight update 170.4. Today I am in Ohio. It is spring break and we are visiting friends, but just me and the kids since Jeff had to stay and work. So, I won't be at my WW meeting this week. Hoping that anything I might gain here will be gone by the time the next weeks' meeting comes.

I Owe an Explanation
So, I have been battling snow and ice first, then sickness. I had a sinus infection and mono at the same time. Completely wiped me out. So I went back to Weight Watchers two weeks ago and I didn't even post my results. Then I went back last week, a little more on track. I will be there again tomorrow, but I know I have not done very well. My exercise has been sporadic and my eating a bit all over the place. I know I need to do better, but sometimes my motivations is just lacking.
Honestly I have been thinking this week that we only have about 3 months until summer, that is 3 months until I have to put on a bathing suit. If I don't get a move on I will be spending another summer fat. I don't want that. I want to be able to go to the water park with my kids, feeling confident in my swimsuit.
That said, next week will be hard too because I am headed to Ohio to visit friends. My kids are coming too, but not my husband. So, the temptations when you eat out ... those are hard. I need to be diligent to make wise choices and to get some activity in.
I have been lazy too long. It's time to step up and do this!

Another Loss
Lost another 1.4 this week. This isn't an official reading, though. We have been homebound due to snow and ice for 3 days now. And just got word it will be another day out tomorrow. Makes it hard to work out.

Bye Bye!
Said goodbye to another 1 pound today. Apparently it didn't like it that I was exercising so much! So now I am at a total of 7.4 pounds down. Getting so close to 10 pounds (and under 170) that I can hardly stand it!

Out of Town
So I left out of town this past Wednesday for New Orleans. Sure am missing my kids, but I have been doing so well I just had to share!
1) got up early (5:00) to walk/run on Wednesday morning before I left
2) worked out at hotel with weights & treadmill on Thursday (1 hour 30 min!)
3) worked out at hotel twice at hotel on elliptical, bike & treadmill on Friday (2 hours and 45 minutes total!)
4) worked out at hotel with weights & treadmill on Saturday (1 hour 30 min!)
And as far as eating goes, I have been very conscientious. It is really hard to eat out all meals, though. I am getting into eating my activity points, but in all honesty I feel really good and given the circumstances am ok with doing this. Last night in NO tonight then it's home tomorrow. Planning to workout one more time tomorrow morning before we leave. It will be good to see my kids and hubby!

Goals
So I sat down to make a real goal of this thing and here it is...
Lose 45 pounds by May 23 (which is the day I leave as a sponsor for a mission trip to Ethiopia). This comes out to 2.14... let's just say 2.2 pounds per week. Ambitious... absolutely. So then the steps I will take to get there?
1. attend my WW meetings
2. track all food
3. weights 3 times a week
4. cardio at least 3 times a week
5. workout 5-7 days a week, 40-90 minutes
6. get at least 7 hours a sleep on most nights (ie: go to bed by 10:30ish)
7. reevaluate the 49 bonus point situation if weight loss is not as desired
